Understanding Microaggressions with Dr. Roxy Manning

Join us for an engaging and informative workshop designed to deepen your understanding of microaggressions and their impact within the CI community. Together, we’ll define and identify different types of microaggressions, explore why they occur, and work through real-life examples relevant to our shared spaces. This session will introduce strategies to recognize and respond to microaggressions while fostering a common language for meaningful dialogue. This 2-hour session will include a Q&A space to address your questions and share insights. Let’s take this important first step toward creating a more inclusive and supportive community.

About Dr. Roxy Manning

Clinical psychologist, certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, and co-host of the podcast Fierce Compassion. As a Black Caribbean immigrant to the US, Roxy Manning brings a unique, intersectional lens to her organizational work, focusing on transforming communication to foster justice and equity. Author of How to Have Antiracist Conversations and coauthor of The Antiracist Heart, her writing provides practical tools for antiracist dialogue and building compassionate communities. Dr. Gabor Maté:
Retired physician, bestselling author, an internationally renowned speaker and the creator of the Compassionate Inquiry approach to psychotherapy.

Dr. Maté evolved his therapeutic approach over the course of a 20-year personal journey. It emerged as a synthesis of his work with patients in family practice, palliative care, and addiction rehabilitation. He later developed the system further while facilitating integration workshops focused on healing trauma through the use of psychedelics.

Co-creator and CEO of Compassionate Inquiry. She supported Dr. Gabor Maté in structuring the Compassionate Inquiry approach and developing the online training.

She is a naturopathic doctor, teacher and author, who combines naturopathic medicine with Compassionate Inquiry, yoga, breathing practices and meditation to support others in healing and integrating mind, body and spirit.
